Abd El-Moteleb: FIBA Africa, NBA neglected communication the Egyptian Basketball federation in BAL

Mohamed Abd El-Moteleb, the Vice President of the Egyptian Basketball Federation

After the victory achieved by the Egyptian Zamalek for winning the first Basketball African League (BAL), Captain Mohamed Abd El-Moteleb, the Vice President of the Egyptian Basketball Federation, stated, in exclusive statements to “Trendify” that FIBA Africa and NBA neglected communication with the Egyptian federation with regard to the championship and its schedule and they communicated with the Egyptian club instead. This led to insufficient preparation of the basketball team to BAL by the federation.

Abd El-Moteleb added that thankfully this problem the Egyptian federation faced didn’t affect the performance of the white knights that made an outstanding performance and kept developing from a match to another since the beginning of the championship till they showed their best in the semi-final yesterday and today’s final matches where they defeated two of the strongest African teams.

As per the performance of Zamalek in BAL, Abd El-Moteleb mentioned that the Egyptian team showed professionalism and responsibility on both levels of the players and the Spanish head coach, Agustin Julbe Bosch, who was able to manage the team successfully in training the team. Julbe Bosch is considered a bargain to the Egyptian basketball as a whole, not only the white knights, especially that the Egyptian basketball team is getting ready to the African championship that will take place in Rwanda as well.

In this championship, Anas Osama was the no. 1 followed by Mohab Yasser in terms of performance of the Egyptian players. In the foreign professional players, both Walter Wallace and Moulokou Diabate showed their best, according to Abd El-Moteleb.

It’s worth mentioning that the Egyptian team secured their participation through BAL qualifying tournaments conducted by FIBA Regional Office Africa across the continent in late 2019.
