Summer vacations are on the way and Egyptians are excited to visit beaches, and since Alexandria is one of the most favoured spots for vacationers, a beach reservation website started trending on social media groups. The ministry of tourism in cooperation with the Central Administration for Tourism and Resorts in Alexandria launched an informative website for Egyptians and tourists to discover what entertaining and touristic venues exist in Alexandria.
It also provides a reservation service for spots on Alexandrian beaches. “Trendify” spoke with the Head of Central Administration for Tourism and Resorts, Major General Jamal Rashad, to clarify the concept and purpose of this website.
The website was shared on Facebook groups, such as “Traveler’s Experiences”, “Dalel khrogatk w fos7ak fi Alexandria”, especially during the summer to help Alexandria visitors and citizens.
According to Major General Jamal Rashad, Head of the Central Administration for Tourism and Resorts, “we created this website in order to prevent overcrowding and congestion, especially during Corona conditions, and to make the beach more calm as the beaches in Alexandria are among the most crowded summer resorts.”
This is among the precautionary measures taken by the state to prevent the spread of Covid-19. In addition, it was made to prevent the exploitation of beach tenants, which most citizens complain about, the lack of organization.
Rashad added that this applies to all 66 beaches from the Far East in Abu Qir to Sidi Kerir in the west. There are free beaches, and there are beaches where the price per person is 5 pounds, and the rest of the beaches are rented, the price per person starts from 10 pounds to 25 pounds.
Rashad explained “And the way to book is to register the name, phone number, e-mail, national identification number, number of individuals, and the day required for reservation, then click on “Book Now” and when entering from the beach gate, hand over the reservation code and pay the ticket value. Visitors need to book 48 hours before going, if you are late, after 11 pm the reservation is considered canceled to maintain order.”
Rashad mentioned “if the price of beaches, cafes, restaurants or tourist attractions exceeds the written payment value, the visitor submits a complaint through the contact information available on the website.”
Alexandrian citizen, Abdelrahman Maged, 24, “through some of the beaches that I visited and through my friends visiting some beaches too recently, there is no "sayes" who rents umbrellas and tables for any amounts other than the ones on the website, and that all this became the responsibility of the governorate because the governor prevented it and I saw inspection officials to prevent exploitation.”
Alexandrian citizen, Ahmed Ghoniem, 34, said that the experience of the website for booking the beaches was more than wonderful. The method of booking was easy, upon entering the beach I am sure thaI have a reserved place. I was with my family, we paid for our reservation at the gate. The place was clean and there was sufficient spacing between the umbrellas and the tables in order to preserve the precautionary measures."
Cairo citizen, Hana Sayed, 20, "When I went with my family to Alexandria, before going to the beach, we booked a reservation a while ago, and I saw the prices of all the beaches and they were reasonable. After going, I found that the prices on the website are the same as at the beach gate, and the beach was clean and committed.”
The rules for visiting beaches:
1. The spatial spacing between the parasols so that it is not less than 4 meters between each parasol and the other.
2. Continuous sterilization of corridors, gates, locker rooms and toilets.
3. Availability of a temperature measuring device on each beach.
4. Availability of oxygen cylinders in the medical units on the beaches.
5. Beach crews wear masks.
6. Complete first aid tools and materials, paramedics and lifeguards.
7. Deployment of inspection and follow-up teams on the beaches to monitor the situation on them first.
