After a list of certain names propagated on social media that were set as “inappropriate” for Muslims religiously, Dar Al-Ifta published 5 points that Muslims should follow in naming a child and denied the authenticity of that propagated list.
That the name be good, so that people do not despise it, and the child does not condemn it after he/she grows up
That the name should not contain ugliness, or self-purification, or one that would require its negation.
The name should not imply arrogance or the greatness of a person without right.
The name should not be a reference to polytheism, such as every worshiped name added to other than Allah, such as the servant of Al-Ezza, the servant of the Kaaba, the servant of the house, or the servant of someone...etc
The naming must not include what the Sharia forbids naming with; such as naming every name specific to Allah, such as the Creator and the Holy One, or with something that is only befitting of Him, glory be to Him, such as the King of Kings, the Sultan of the Sultans, and the Ruler of Rulers
