“Masr Al-Raqameya” Mobile Application for Governmental Services

The Egyptian government launched a website and mobile application that provide a platform for most of its ministries to display their services for citizens, governmental employees and company owners to use instead of physically going to the governmental offices. “Trendify” uncovered details and benefits of its services.

“This website has been in processing from before the pandemic, but it was sped up due to the urgency of preventing crowds in public areas,” said Ahmed Kamal, Deputy Minister and official spokesperson of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, to “Trendify”.

The ministry of Supply provides its services through its 1400 Supply offices all over the country, 600 of these offices have been upgraded to become centers of developed service, these upgrades include structural, technical and human resource developments, added deputy Kamal.

Deputy Kamal explained that these online services are a step towards a ‘paperless’ system, and that offices will still remain for those who prefer to finish their paperwork physically.

“Egyptians can now register for their Supply card online and request that it can be delivered to them at home,” added Deputy Kamal. The registering processes are free, but any other requests or processes require online payments through “Meeza”, “Khales”, “Visa” or “Mastercard” services.

“The website provides some of the Ministry of Justice’s services regarding Economic and commercial issues,” said legal counselor, Hatem Al-Marakashy.

Counselor Al-Marakashy added that the digitizing of legal documents provides them with a safe platform to store all their documents online and makes it easier to access them at any time anywhere. One can easily access their data and follow up on any case they are working on without the hassle of needing to physically go to the court and request a follow-up.

The website is considered the second phase implemented by the government of digitizing legal processes in Egypt. It delivers a flagship digital justice platform with a powerful backend that automates and integrates end-to-end judiciary processes and services, including legal case filing, assignment, scheduling, distribution, transfers, management, and others, added Al-Marakashy.

Any disadvantages in a technological advancement such as this, is usually a technical issue that is possible to occur. Therefore, these issues are always monitored and updated by the technical authorities.

“As a private law office, we are glad we were given this tool, as it saves us a great amount of time and therefore saves us money,” said Al-Marakashy.

This website has been in the production process since before the pandemic but was implemented a year and a half ago ever since the pandemic started, to eliminate any crowds from occurring. It also has a mobile application available on Android phones as well as iOS devices.
