2021 Wedding Trends, planners’ perspective

Any wedding this year depends on the theme and colors of the décor. Wedding planners started using modern technology such as LED screens which depend on the concept of the wedding or the maquettes of its design. There are two types that are trending, Royal themes or LED screens and lots of lighting and flowers in the wedding venue.

Currently, many people prefer weddings that give the feeling as if you’re on the beach. The simpler the wedding, the better, it mainly depends on the view of the venue, such as Ain-Al-Sokhna, North Coast, Mountain locations, etc.

As for the Coronavirus safety precautions imposed by the government, “we try to host the least amount of guests possible and put less chairs on each table, and our main goal is to have almost 100% of our weddings in an outdoor location. If a location normally takes 300 guests, we shrink it down to 150 at most,” said wedding planner, Noor Allah Abdallah, to “Trendify”.

And for their clients, these restrictions have their pros and cons. They could save up money on having small and simple ceremonies, but they wouldn’t have all of their relatives there celebrating with them. However, people realized that they could have small numbers of people gathered and still have a great time, after being used to paying ridiculously large amounts for weddings to host more than 250 guests, added the wedding planner.

Previously, one used to enter a hotel, pay an amount of money, let's say 100k and expect everything to be prepared by the hotel management till the day of the wedding. Nowadays, people are well aware of what goes into a wedding’s preparation. They know what exactly they want to splurge on, such as the catering or the lighting, and know how to utilize the wedding’s budget respectively, giving enough to each aspect.

Aside from the fact that we are already in a summer wedding season, there is a more than usual number of weddings as many people have postponed due to the lockdown imposed in 2020.

“The strangest wedding we created was in fact the quickest wedding we made. It was Elham Shaheen’s brother’s wedding, Amir Shaheen, which took exactly four days to finish. They had postponed the wedding to a simple Katb Ketab, which luckily came on the day the lockdown was lifted, so they decided to have a bigger ceremony and invite more people,” said Noorallah. Another strange wedding was one that consisted of no more than 20 guests, including the bride and groom.

The wedding’s success depends on the bride and groom’s impression. If they are happy and are having a good time, it means it is a nicely executed wedding. It also depends on how the wedding budget is distributed on the different requirements for the wedding.

Roman themes, mirrors and lighting in entrances, lots of flowers and a widespread theme throughout the whole location are some of the most requested elements this year, said Mahmoud Sami, Egyptian wedding planner, to “Trendify”.

Currently, since the lockdown has been lifted, “we still have open air wedding locations but since the sound system is heard better in closed areas, we started creating a dedicated closed area for the dancefloor,” added Sami.

“From my point of view, people choose to have summer weddings because it is a great time to travel for honeymoons and enjoy the weather in whichever location they go,” said Sami.
