Since the announcement of her name of qualifiers for Tokyo 2020 Olympic games as the first Egyptian and Arab female to compete in the 1st Olympic edition of Karate, Giana Farouk became the talk of the town especially in Karate communities, whose members have high hopes counting on the world champion and gold medalist to earn an olympic medal for Egypt.
Despite her relatively young age, the 26 year-old karate champion managed to win numerous medals and make massive achievements that enables her to earn an olympic medal.
Although Giana entered the world of sports through swimming, she didn’t pursue this route and found her passion in Karate which she took as a career, enabling her to participate in many tournaments, alongside he academic path as she studied pharmacy and obtained a bachelor's degree.
Farouk was able to achieve many championships and titles, reaching 7 gold medals in world championships, 13 gold in other international championships, in addition to 15 silver medals.
Farouk has won the bronze medal and third place in the Karate World Championship, with a weight of 61 kg, after defeating the Philippines player 4/3.
