Hedaya Malak and Alaa Abouelkassem, former olympic medalists, will have the honor to carry the Egyptian flag during the Parade of Nations in the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics.


Before Malak and Abouelkassem, former Egyptian medalists received this honor in previous olympic cycles. “Trendify” lists the Egyptian flag carriers in the last 10 Olympic cycles, as follows:

It’s worth mentioning Hedaya Malak Wahba is 2016 taekwondo bronze medalist and Alaa Abouelkassem, won the silver medal in the individual foil fencing event in 2012.


The Secretary General of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, Sherif El-Aryan, announced in previous press statements that the delegation of athletes set to represent Egypt at the 2020 Olympics will be the largest in the country’s history. He also, confirmed that 134 athletes are expected to participate in the Olympic games, in 24 different sports.
