Trending hair and skin issues, dermatologist Mohamed Nabil comments

Many people struggle daily from different skin and hair issues, and are always on the hunt for solutions. Hair implants, oily skin and ways to treat them are from the most recent topics debated on social media. “Trendify” interviewed dermatologist Mohamed Nabil, whose clinic gained wide recognition the past few years, about these debates.

How did you manage to build relations with all these celebrities to visit your clinic?

It was all a coincidence at first, a certain celebrity came to my clinic, had a “BioFibre” hair implant treatment, and his friend, who was also a celebrity, asked where he had his treatment as it looked great, and went uphill from there.

Ayman Al-Shewey came later on for the treatments, and people were surprised by how young he looked and how his hair remained the same after years from “Hamam Fi Amsterdam”. And it became a trend on Facebook, four years ago.

Rogina, Tarek Allam & Ehab Tawfiq later on visited him as well, and a series of other celebrities. “The “BioFibre” hair treatment gained great recognition in our clinic as we are the only place in Egypt that provides it, and it really does have great results,” said Nabil.

Tell us more about the ‘BioFibre’ technology, is it suitable for everyone?

It is definitely suitable for everyone since it is hair strands that are made of inactive tissue-friendly materials that are non-toxic to the human body and form a keratin plug that restricts the penetration of microbial agents into the scalp, meaning it is fully biocompatible with the scalp. These are almost identical to real hair.

It is a safe alternative for those who don’t have the option of an actual hair transplant, such as people with cancer, alopecia, liver issues, etc.

The rate of hair fall after a treatment is as normal hair falls naturally, it is possible, and is about 10% each year. But it depends on the doctor who is performing the implants. It is recommended that whenever a patient notices hair fall, they should get a quick touch up every now and then.

A hashtag on Twitter was trending about people with Oily Skin. Since the weather is hot these days, it has become a noticeable and intolerable issue, what do you recommend for such cases?

Having a skincare routine is important, using a suitable face wash daily and following up with the right moisturizer as well is needed. This is to prevent sebum buildup, as it will clog pores and with time may lead to skin issues such as acne, fine lines and wrinkles. ‘Fractional Laser” appointments are from the most effective ways of sealing pores, which would decrease oil production.

Another trending debate was that too many facials will eventually harm the skin instead of benefiting from it, is that true and what is the right scenario?

Of course, it is true. Facials open up skin pores in order to add products that deep clean and clarify any oils or buried sebum beneath the skin’s outermost layer. The skin needs to be cleaned, then have a specific plan with the suitable products for the skin type, to seal these pores on a clean surface, to prevent further dirt or sebum from entering the skin barrier.
