Captain Waleed Abo Sree

Zamalek Basketball team qualified for the finals of Basketball Africa League (BAL) after the Egyptian club defeated the Angolan club Petro De Luanda 89 - 71, earlier today.

Captain Walid Abo Sree, former Zamalek basketball player and commentator of today's match said that the players performance today was amazing and reflected both physical and mental readiness. Moreover, the harmony between the Egyptian players and the foreign professionals was apparent in the performance of the team and had a good impact.

Abo Sree: the competition was fierce between both the Egyptian and the Angolan teams during the 1st and 2nd quarters

Abo Sree added to “Trendify” that the competition was fierce between both the Egyptian and the Angolan teams during the 1st and 2nd quarters. However, in the 3rd and 4th quarters Zamalek took the lead and the result was almost expected in favor of the Egyptian team.

Zamalek didn’t face many difficulties in today’s match and it went smoothly with a good harmony where almost 9 out of the team’s 12 players scored goals, according to Abo Sree. The beginning was a bit weak but it was expected that this was just the beginning and the Egyptian team did its best later where it managed to retrieve its performance.

“It is an Egyptian pride that in the first BAL championship, an Egyptian club made it to the finals”, the basketball commentator said. If Zamalek won the finals tomorrow, this would be the second African Championship won by the team since 1992.

Abu Sree declared that the current generation is promising to the extent that it brought back memories of Zamalek basketball champions, Alaa Abdoul and Nader Abd El-Halim after a 29-year-old gap of absence of African basketball championships in Zamalek.

Abo Sree: The Spanish technical director and professional Foreign players are reasons behind the team's achievements

The main reasons behind the achievements of Zamalek in this championship are the Spanish technical director who exerted massive efforts in training the team and the three foreign professional players who joined Zamalek for this championship who are Mouloukou Souleyman DIABATE, Chinemelu ELONU and Michael Olayinka FAKUADE
