Mofreh Sarhan: Two books of a series in CIBF to spread Human Development concepts

Human development is a vital aspect that many people tend to read in hopes of becoming better in the cycle of life. Mofreh Sarhan, writer and journalist at Al-Ahram will have the first two books from his series published in the 52nd Cairo International Book Fair.

“Our society currently needs guidance in the human development aspect, as the obstacles we are going through such as the Coronavirus pandemic has caused a sense of being lost and overall confusion,” said Sarhan to “Trendify”.

It is a series of books where their main goal is human development in our society. The main idea was adapted from the “Benaa Ensan” project by the 30th of June Initiative by the President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi.

“Zaman: How to Find Happiness in Your Memory Box” and the second book is titled “Laa Hayaa’ Fi Al-Helm: Last Chance before the End of the World”, they are written in literary and journalistic language almost research-like, and he considers them a “full meal” in the human development aspect.

“We need to reconstruct and readdress our old values and bring them back to life, we need to understand that our true treasures lie within our souls, we need to know how to find our true selves,” added the author.

The publishing house “Al-Nukhba’s” head, Osama Ibrahim, adopted the idea and was deeply interested in publishing this sort of series in the book fair. “I have noticed throughout the years that people, especially the youth, tend to look for books about human development, and by adding attractive titles, they usually feel connected to the books,” said Sarhan.

“The Coronavirus definitely affected every aspect in the world; however, it has thankfully affected me positively. If it weren’t for the pandemic, these books would never have been written,” said Sarhan, adding that these books are related to nostalgia and dreaming of the future, while we are going through dark times.

“I found that our roles as writers, we had to revive hope in life and confirm that it is not related to a specific time, it has to always exist in our hearts,” explained Sarhan. He added that the lockdown and the changed working hours have given him enough time to finish his writing, and considers the pandemic a blessing in disguise.

“Ideas are born through troubles” said Sarhan. If a writer’s goal is to spread a developmental aspect, it would shine bright in a time of darkness and uncertainty.
