The Cursed Ring: Horror novel by Ahmed Mansour in CIBF

Continuing our series of the Cairo International Book Fair features, “Trendify” spoke with Ahmed Mohamed Mansour Heiba who participates for the fourth time in the Cairo International Book Fair with a Diwan that combines Classical Arabic and slang Arabic called “Roba’aeyat”, as well as a horror novel “The Cursed Ring” published by “Al-Mashreq Al-Araby” Publishing House.

The novel’s events encompass an agreement made between a grandfather and one of the genies’ kings and the situation evolves to a point where the grandson has to pay the price of this agreement and deal with the curse.

“This book fair is a cultural celebration that allows us to get to know each other more, allows readers to recognise us, and presents us to the cultural market,” said Mansour.

“It is an event that I wait for not just to have my work published in, but to notice the movement of thought and creativity, and its evolution, as well as to participate in the fair’s activities and seminars,” added Mansour.

Mansour hopes to continue participating yearly in the book fair, and continue with horror literature as it is a unique category that youth enjoys, even though it is difficult due to its heavily detailed nature.

“For years and years people wait for the book fair in January, so hopefully many people attend, since the hot weather, the far location and the fact that there are still students will be going through their final exams may cause a decrease in attendance,” commented Mansour on the postponement of the fair from January to June.
